Accentuate the Positive – Sharing Stories of Joy in Everyday Life

posted in: Joy, Inspiration | 0

When trying to come up with something for my “About” section of this blog, I thought of the old song “Accentuate the Positive.” It was  written by lyricist John Herndon Mercer who wrote many other popular songs from the mid-30’s to mid-50’s, including  “Moon River”, “Days of Wine and Roses”, “Autumn Leaves”, and “Hooray for Hollywood”. He also co-founded Capitol Records. None of which has anything to do with this blog but I like to give credit where it is due. The song was performed by many singers through the years From Bing Crosby to Aretha Franklin to the wonderful Bette Midler but I included this particular video by The Isaacs because it’s a little new and different and because it includes the lyrics.

I have had a lot of websites and blogs over the years since I started writing, some of them with specific themes, such as protecting wildlife. But now I am at a point in my life where I would really like to encourage people to lead a more joyful life. Anyone past a certain age knows that we sometimes have to make a concerted effort to focus on the joyful things in life, when the LESS joyful aspects can seem overwhelming at times.

So I really hope to share posts about joy and the things that bring us all joy. Not just my stories, but stories of other people who want to get inspiration from the song and “spread joy, up to the maximum and bring gloom down to the minimum.”

If you are a writer and have a topic you would like to share, please let me know. I welcome guest posts. Or if you are just a person full of joy with a story to tell, I would love to hear about that, too.

Ir you are interested in sharing a story about joy, please leave a comment on this post.
